We have some exciting news to share with you. The fun is coming! What type of fun, you ask? We can’t wait to fill you in. September 27, Langer’s Entertainment Center will be opening in Sherwood. Though the Langer family has been in Oregon for more than a century, we’re delighted to be opening a premier family destination to better serve our community. So what do we have in store for you? An entertainment experience like none other. Here’s what you can expect.
Fun for the Whole Family
One thing that makes Langer’s Entertainment Center in Sherwood so unique is that we offer a fantastic all indoor experience. You might have a ropes course, for instance, at an outdoor park. Or you might have an entertainment venue with arcade games and bowling lanes. But it’s rare to have both of those things under one roof. Langer’s sets itself apart by offering activities that appeal to everyone—from outdoor enthusiasts to avid gamers. Whatever it is that you or your kids like to do, we have it here. Let’s take an in-depth look at some of the attractions we have to offer.
Attractions
The bad news is that Langer’s Entertainment Center, Sherwood, has so much to do that you may not be able to get it all done in a single visit. The good news is that you can come back as often as you want and explore to your heart’s content. So what exactly is there to do here? What isn’t there to do here is probably a better question.
Let’s start with the sky. We take our high ropes course to another level by offering 21 different challenges on a course that’s three stories tall … and indoors! Once you’ve tackled the ropes course, challenge yourself on our 46-foot tall indoor rock-climbing wall modeled after Smith Rock in Central Oregon. We have beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses, as well as a timed course so you can challenge your friends and family to a race.
Once you’ve worked up a sweat, sit back and relax at one of our arcade video games. We have over 50 games to choose from, and you can redeem your points for some pretty cool prizes afterward. When you’re done relaxing, work up a sweat again by teaming up with your family, or facing off against them, in a friendly game of laser tag. You can also head over to our bowling alley, where you can enjoy vintage arcade games, billiards, darts, and so much more.
Langer’s Entertainment Center in Sherwood offers activities for your little ones to enjoy as well. Our soft play area features a play structure with a spiral slide, two-person racing slide, and much more.
Dining
We know that with so much to do, you’re going to work up quite the appetite. We offer plenty of options to satiate your appetite. Just like the fun, we promise the menu is coming soon!
If you want to indulge in an adult beverage while you’re here, you can do that too. Our Tack Room invites you and your family to gather around a fire underneath our giant elk antler chandelier. In addition to private bowling lanes, the room also features our historic bar, built from wood that comes directly from the Langer family cattle ranch, and come see where it all started with blacksmith Ferdinand Langer’s anvil sitting atop the bar. We love to incorporate personal touches from our own family home throughout the entertainment center so you’ll truly feel like our personal guest.
You can also gather around our indoor campfire with your favorite adult drink or grab a hot espresso from vintage Log Mill Cabin next to the live water wheel. Sip on a cup of cocoa or maybe enjoy a hot toddy from the bar. We have the perfect beverages for you to enjoy around our roasting campfire.
Lasting Memories
We know our games and attractions will be the main reason many people come to visit. But our top reason for opening Langer’s Entertainment Center is to help create memories that will stay with you long after your day here has come to an end.
We understand the importance of family and lasting memories. Whether it’s sharing stories around the campfire or laughing your way through a game of laser tag, we always want to make you feel right at home. The attractions are fun, but it’s really the time spent with family and friends that makes visiting Langer’s Entertainment Center a truly memorable and wonderful experience.
If you have an event or celebration, we’ll make sure that it’s an unforgettable day for you and your loved ones. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, we offer group parties to make your day an even more incredible experience. We can accommodate anything from a small, intimate party to a lavish affair. We even offer the option of a facility buy-out for up to 800 guests. Whether the occasion is a birthday party, graduation celebration, or wedding, we’ll make sure you have a one-of-a-kind experience that you’ll never forget.
So are you ready to have a little fun? We’re here to help. The fun is almost here! Look for us to open in fall of this year.
While there may be other places that offer arcade games or ropes courses, you’ll find that Langer’s Entertainment Center offers a truly top-notch experience. We’re a one-stop shop for all your entertainment and party needs.
Regardless of your age, at Langer’s Entertainment Center in Sherwood, we truly believe that you’re a kid at heart. And all kids should be able to let loose and have a little fun. So won’t you be our guest? We’d love to welcome you to our entertainment center and, of course, our family. Once you come to Langer’s Entertainment Center, we’re certain there’s no other place you’d rather be.
When the weather gets too warm in the summer, too cold in the winter, or too rainy any day of the year here in Portland, parents are regularly questioning the fun activities they can do with their kids.
It’s hard to please everyone from ages 5 to 50, but there are some timeless suggestions that will keep everyone engaged in a spirited, fun-filled way.
Here are five activities to test out when answering the age-old question, “What can I do for indoor family entertainment?”
1. Choose Your Adventure at Langer’s
What do you do when one child wants to play arcade games, another wants to bowl, and you’d really like to try your hand at laser tag and, honestly, just hang out by a warm campfire? Well, your wish is just about to come true!
The Langer family settled in Oregon in the late 1800s and opened their farm in 1879 in the Willamette Valley. For more than ten years they had a vision to give back to the community and create a place where families could come together and have a good time. That dream is about to become a reality at Langer’s Entertainment Center.
While you might find a few of these activities in one place now, soon you’ll know just where to go for indoor family entertainment near Portland. The answer will be Langer’s: the destination that will have something for everyone.
2. Pick Out a Game Together & Host a Family-Friendly Competition at Home
Whether your family is into card games, board games, dice games, creative games, or knowledge games, there are so many to choose from today that you simply can’t go wrong. Not sure where to start? Just stop by your local game store and ask. Sure, the associates will know the classics like Chutes and Ladders, Twister, and Phase 10, but they might also suggest something right off the rack that will fit your family just right.
Once you’ve decided on one or a few, head back home and get the competition started. Team up girls versus boys, kids versus parents, or simply take each other on as individuals. Don’t forget to keep the mood light and enjoy each other’s company. After all, it’s just a game.
3. Head to the Arcade
Does your family host board game night every Friday and want to switch things up for Saturday? Then head to your local arcade to battle zombies, dance the night away with DDR, or be the first of your crew to race around the track. Take on multiple adventures and stay active when you experience all an arcade has to offer.
But, remember, it’s about spending time together, so don’t just let the kids wander off. Instead, challenge them to a game of air hockey, ski ball, shooting hoops, and more. Hop in the car and try out QuarterWorld Arcade on SE Hawthorne, Arcade Club PDX in Tigard, or High Score Arcade on SE Morrison.
4. Test Your Skills at Rock Climbing
A sport of endurance and finesse that has taken the world by storm in the last few years is rock climbing. While it certainly takes a little bravery and a bit of strength, beginners are encouraged at all ages. So if your youngest child has been asking to try his hand on the rock wall, why not make it a family activity?
Portland Rock Gym and Planet Granite are two ideal options where you will be exposed to both bouldering and climbing on belay. PRG even has auto-belay machines, which is ideal when your family is just starting to learn. Both facilities offering day passes, rental equipment, and introductory and advanced courses.
5. Stop by an Indoor Playground and Focus on Fun for the Kids
Let’s be real. While you want to spend quality time with your family, you also want to relax this weekend and find a place where your kids can safely roam and release their seemingly endless energy while you just chill. We’ve got you covered!
You deserve your downtime while your children are off acting like literal monkeys so head to the following indoor family entertainment spots to accomplish just that: PlayDate PDX on NW 17th Avenue, Money King Play House on SE Powell, Sky High Sports in Tigard, and more.
Your kids might want to run around until they collapse, but you’re already there. So don’t be hard on yourself for wanting a breather. Just head to an indoor playground, and you’ll both have the best weekend yet.
Everyone says that kids grow up so fast. You blink and they’ve grown an inch. You can’t believe they already … fill in the blank here.
Your children will grow up before you know it, so why not make this time with them extra special and create memories you’ll all cherish for a lifetime? Get started today and make plans at the indoor family entertainment location of your choosing.
It seems easy. Throw the ball and knock as many pins down as you can. Still, anyone who has ever played a bowling game knows that it’s not that simple. The gutter might act like a magnet for your ball on every roll, which is all the more reason to work on improving your game before you get to the lanes.
One thing you should probably know if you live in the Portland, Oregon, area is that Langer’s Entertainment Center is now open! And it features an awesome bowling section to enjoy. The most important part about your Langer’s Entertainment bowling experience is that you have fun. But we understand if you want to do a little prep in efforts to impress your friends and family.
A little competition never hurt anyone, and we want you to arrive at Langer’s ready to bowl your best. These five ways to improve your bowling game will let you arrive at Langer’s Entertainment Center feeling confident about your bowling skills and ready to play!
Learn the Basics
One of the best ways to improve your bowling game is to make sure that you understand the game, and one of the most important parts of the game is the pins. Each pin is numbered 1–10, with the front pin being number 1, and the rest being numbered from left to right, starting with the second row. Together, they form an equilateral triangle and are spaced exactly 12 inches apart from each other. The point is to knock all the pins down, but there’s some strategy you can learn that may come in handy.
Your goal isn’t to have your ball hit every pin, but to hit the pins that are most important so that they can knock the others down. When you want to get a strike, it’s best to aim for the pins in the pocket, which are the three pins closest to you, numbers 1–3. When you hit these pins, they’re able to fall and hit the pins behind them, creating a domino effect. Having the pins hit each other to fall is called “good pin carry” and what you should always aim for when bowling.
Know How to Pick the Right Ball
There’s an art to choosing a ball to bowl with. As you may already know, each bowling ball displays a number on it that signifies how much it weighs. It may seem easier to grab a ball that weighs less, but the correct way to pick a ball depends on your own weight. It’s best to use the 10 percent guideline. This means that you should be picking a ball that’s roughly 10 percent of your weight (up to 16 pounds).
Once you find the right ball, you should then make sure that your fingers fit into the holes correctly. Though the 10 percent guideline is a good place to start, you won’t be able to throw the ball properly if your fingers are fitting too loosely or snugly into the holes. Your fingers should fit comfortably enough that you can both grip and release the ball effortlessly. Knowing this beforehand will allow you to pick the perfect ball on the first try when you head over to Langer’s Entertainment Center.
Perfect Your Walk
After you grab your ball, you may end up staring down at the lane, unsure how to start. The space between you and the foul line is only a few feet long, but the steps leading up to it can either trip you up or set you up for success. Beginner bowlers should practice a four-step approach. With this approach, you only need to take four steps before reaching the foul line and releasing the ball.
You should start in a stance where your shoulders are square to pins. If you are right-handed, your first step should start with your right foot stepping ahead. With the next steps, you bring the ball back and then release it on the fourth step, as your right leg slides behind you.
You can practice this walk at home by putting some tape on the ground to act as a foul line and timing your walk accordingly. Make sure you remember to follow through, even when practicing. This helps to reinforce the direction of the ball toward the intended target. Do this a few days before you head to Langer’s Entertainment for bowling fun, and you’ll be ready to get your strike!
Practice Rolling at Home
You don’t need to have an at-home bowling alley to practice your game. There are plenty of ways to improve your rolling without even using a bowling ball. One good way to practice is by filling a bucket with a hole at the bottom with water. It sounds crazy, but using this method can help you get an idea of how your arm rolls the ball and the direction you’re leading it to.
This works best outside on a sidewalk or driveway, where you can clearly see where the water falls. When you reenact your roll, the water that drips out at the bottom of the bucket will provide proof of the direction you’re rolling it. If your water drops are leading more toward the left, for example, you can either keep practicing until it becomes more straight, or you’ll know that when you get to the bowling alley you should start off standing farther to the right to make up for it.
Relax
This may seem too simple, but it could be your biggest asset when it comes to having a good bowling game. One of the problems that people have when bowling is the anxiety to have a perfect game. Everyone wants to get a strike, but if you’re putting too much pressure on yourself to achieve it, you’ll be more likely to mess up. Being relaxed and not letting yourself feel too much pressure to have a perfect game can help you have your best game yet! It can also help you to remember that the most important part of bowling with friends and family is to have fun.
Before you head to the Langer’s Entertainment bowling alley, try to relax. You can come already calm, or you can use the other areas of Langer’s to help ease the tension. There are tons of ways to relax at Langer’s. This entertainment center has an arcade, ropes courses, laser tag, a rock wall, and more to choose from!
Using these tips can ensure that you come to Langer’s Entertainment Center ready to play your best game. You’ll be sure to impress your family and friends with your newfound skills. With that out of the way, now you can just focus on having fun!
You may have heard the talk or caught wind of the buzz. There’s some excitement circling around exactly what Langer Farms is building in Sherwood. You may have even heard some speculation about what it could be. But let us tell you all about it firsthand. Langer Farms is building an entertainment center, but it’s so much more than that. The Langer’s Entertainment Center is a destination experience for the whole family to enjoy. Here are some of the things you can expect from this one-of-a-kind experience that officially opened in October.
A Taste of History
Are you proud of your Oregon heritage? So are we. The Langer family has been a part of Sherwood, Oregon, since 1879, and Sherwood, Oregon, has been a huge part of our hearts ever since then too. We proudly showcase our heritage throughout our entertainment center so that you can get a taste of who we are and learn more about the region in the process.
Our farming roots are on display throughout our entertainment center, which showcases relics from the family farm. Be our guest at the Tack Room, where we invite you to step up to our historic bar built from a tree cut down at the Langer family cattle ranch. In fact, many of the tabletops throughout the center are made from the wood of a giant red sequoia planted by Clarence Langer Jr. And the bellows that Ferdinand Langer Sr.—the founder of the Langer family farm—used as a blacksmith is displayed in our fun center as well.
We certainly want to share our family heritage with you, but we also want to celebrate your family heritage by helping you learn more about your home state while you’re here. That’s why so much of our entertainment center pays homage to Oregon and, in particular, to our hometown of Sherwood.
For instance, we proudly display local artwork and craftsmanship by long-time Sherwood resident Terry Boatman. As you explore the center, you’ll also see historically significant landmarks that shaped the history and culture of our home state. In fact, our rock wall’s design was inspired by Smith Rock in Central Oregon. And you can also experience Beaver State history when you step into our bowling alley. It’s modeled after Sherwood’s brick kiln of the 1890s called the Portland Pressed Brick Company.
A Family Experience
As you can probably tell by now, family is incredibly important to the Langers. That’s why we wanted to create a family destination experience for you and your loved ones. Langer’s Entertainment Center transcends generations by serving as a one-stop fun shop for people of all ages. Our soft play area is perfect for your little ones to enjoy, while older children and adults can have fun testing their skills in our video arcade or challenging themselves on our ropes course.
As much as possible, we’ve also created experiences that can be enjoyed together as a family. Our laser tag adventure invites you to team up or square off against one another in our Northwest log mill–themed arena. You can also partner up in our bowling alley or go head-to-head with your friends and family. We certainly want you to enjoy yourselves while at Langer’s, but even more important to us is that you leave here closer as a family. We understand how important family bonding time is, so we’ve designed activities that will bring people together and allow them to create lasting memories in our fun center.
Memorable Moments
Whether you come to Langer’s for a family outing or a special occasion, we want to be sure you have an unforgettable experience. That’s why we cater to private events and celebrations. Whether it’s a graduation, birthday, or holiday event, Langer’s is the perfect place to host your party. We have a number of event spaces for groups of all sizes, and we’ll do everything possible to make your special day one that you’ll remember for years to come.
Our venue is a great space for office team building, a family reunion, or virtually anything else you can imagine. Whether you want to host a low-key get-together or a high-end affair, we can bring your vision to life. We even offer the option of a facility buy-out if you want to host a larger event, such as an anniversary celebration or banquet.
Fun Times
Of course, we wouldn’t be able to call Langer’s an entertainment center if it didn’t provide loads of fun and exciting adventure. We want you to have a blast when you come to visit us, so we’ve designed our facility to provide the ultimate experience. Whatever your game of choice or preferred level of action, we have something just for you.
If you enjoy the great outdoors, then tackle our rock-climbing wall or lounge by our campfire. If virtual reality is more your speed, then check out one of the 50 video games we have in our arcade. We promise you won’t leave Langer’s disappointed. Fun family time is our specialty, and we guarantee we’ll pull out all the stops to make sure you have a thrilling day of action, adventure, and unique entertainment.

It can be hard to find activities that people of all ages can enjoy. But laser tag is something that both kids and adults will have a blast playing. Adults may initially not be interested, but trust us, once the game starts, they’ll definitely get caught up in the rush! If you’ve never played laser tag before or just need to brush up on some skills, don’t worry. We have a number of helpful tips that will make sure the game is as fun as possible—and that you’ll have a good chance of winning! Follow the advice below and prepare to have a blast when you play laser tag in Oregon.
1. Keep Moving!
Standing still, in the same place and same position, for too long will make you an easy target. But while you’re moving, don’t try to go too fast. You don’t want to get too worn out. And moving too fast can mess up your aim. Just keep up a nice, steady pace throughout the game. The more you move, the more difficult it is for the opposing team to track your position and movements.
Also remember to be strategic in the way you move around. Crouching down can help you keep a low profile. And moving sideways is a neat trick that can make it easier for you to aim. Plus, it can make it harder for your opponents to hit you. If you see someone about to shoot at you, you can try to quickly duck or turn sideways so that they miss.
2. Keep Shooting!
This may seem obvious, but many players hesitate too much when it comes to shooting their laser guns. Laser tag is definitely a game where quantity is more important than quality. There are usually no limits on how many times you can fire, so don’t worry about saving ammunition. If your laser gun does need to be reloaded, it’s usually not difficult and takes very little time. And in some laser tag arenas, the laser guns don’t even need to be reloaded at all. Try to shoot in a strategic way if you can, but it’s okay if you don’t have perfect aim. Especially if it’s your first time playing! But if you shoot a lot at once, you’ll be much more likely to hit at least one of your opponents.
3. Use the Opportunity to Take a Breath If You Get Hit
Usually, you’re out of the game for a short time after getting hit. Take advantage of the break this will give you. Laser tag can be a very tiring activity, so this will ensure you can keep playing your best. If you can find a good spot, you might want to hide for a little too. In some cases, your suit will go dark during this time, so you can move without being detected. This can give you a little extra time to regain your composure and also avoid an opponent hitting you the second you’re back in the game.
4. Dress Appropriately
You don’t need to buy a whole new outfit for playing laser tag in Oregon, but certain clothes will be better than others. Wear dark colors, such as black and dark blue, because when the black light’s on, light colors will make you easier to see. White is definitely the worst color to wear. It would make you such an easy target! And the clothes you wear should be comfortable and easy to move around in too.
You’ll be running around quite a bit, so definitely wear comfortable sneakers. If you can, make sure your shoes are a darker color as well. Every little bit counts. You might want to wear layers as well. A laser tag arena may be cold when the game first starts, but you can work up a sweat while playing.
5. Study the Layout of the Laser Tag Arena Before the Game Starts
If you can, walk around the arena before your game starts. Going in blind could end up costing you the game. Try to see if there are any potential hiding places or which areas might give you the best advantage. Some laser tag arenas, such as ours at Langer’s, have multiple levels.
If possible, try to look at the higher level ahead of time as well. Then, once the game begins, try to go for the high ground. Langer’s laser tag arena has two different levels and going up to the second one can give you a considerable advantage for shooting. Because you’re higher up, it will be easier to spot the other players. But some may try to shoot at you, so keep up your strategic game or ask a teammate to cover you.
6. Listen Closely
While you should definitely keep an eye on your opponents’ movements, don’t rule out your other senses too. Actively listening to other people’s movements will give you an advantage, since many people don’t even think about doing so.
7. Finally, Make Sure to Enjoy Yourself!
Don’t get too worked up over who wins or loses. Remember that the ultimate point of the game is to have fun. Ideally, the game goes so well that you’ll want to play it again very soon.
Now that you’ve got these expert tips, it’s time to try a game of a laser tag at our entertainment center in Oregon! Here at Langer’s Entertainment Center, our laser tag is Northwest log mill–themed, a fun, unique, and perfectly Pacific Northwest theme.
Our arena spans nearly 5,000 square feet total and up to three 10-person teams can play. So there’s enough space for lots of people, including the whole family, to join in the fun. And when you try these tips, everyone will be quite impressed with your skills. Once the game is over, stop by our restaurant and try some of burgers, pizzas, fish and chips, salads, and more. You can find more information about laser tag and our other attractions on our website.
Langer’s Entertainment Center offers an experience like none other. We’ve just opened, and we can’t wait to show you everything we have to offer! We hope you’ll come enjoy a few hours at our Sherwood fun center with us. Here's a preview of the fun that’s in store for you at Langer’s.
Rock Climbing
We understand that one of the great appeals of the Pacific Northwest is the great outdoors. At our Sherwood fun center, we bring the outdoors in with some pretty incredible adventure experiences. One thing you can tackle when you get here is our rock-climbing wall. With beginner, intermediate, and advanced climbing routes, it’s the perfect climbing challenge for almost everyone.
At Langer’s, we’ve left no stone (or in this case, rock) unturned. Our rock wall was designed with great detail and has been modeled after Smith Rock in central Oregon. In fact, we have 21 climbing routes that are named and inspired by actual routes on Smith Rock. You can tackle the wall at your own pace or challenge your friends to a race on one of our timed routes. We truly believe we have some of the best indoor rock climbing in the entire state of Oregon.
Ropes Course
If you enjoy heights, you’ll also want to test out your wits on our ropes course. At three stories tall, it’s certainly not for the faint of heart. Just like our rock-climbing wall, there are 21 challenges for you to master. You can also climb up our 56-foot-tall rope ladder. Your reward for making it all the way to the top? Making sure everyone knows about it by ringing the Langer Farm bell when you get there!
Games Galore
We know there’s no better way for a kid to be a kid than to play arcade games. At Langer’s, there’s a variety of racing, redemption, and video games for you to enjoy. We have everything from the latest high-energy action games to the classic games that you played as a kid, like basketball and Skee-Ball. With so much to choose from, the arcade offers fun for kids and adults of all ages. When you’re done playing, you can redeem your points for some pretty awesome prizes.
Laser Tag
Who doesn’t love a friendly game of laser tag? We take ours to the next level by providing a Northwest sawmill-themed laser tag attraction. There’s no shortage of fun to be had with our laser tag experience. You can compete with up to three ten-person teams so that everyone can get in on the action. Interactive targets add to the fun by giving you additional ways to score points for your team. You can even come face to face with Sasquatch during your game. With nearly 5,000 square feet of high-tech fun and adventure, this is a laser tag experience like none other!
Bowling Lanes
Are you ready to get on the ball? If so, we want to help you along by inviting you to take a step back in history with a visit to our bowling lanes. In the 1890s, Sherwood had a brick kiln called The Portland Pressed Brick Company. When you bowl with us, you’ll be transported back to that place and time.
Our 26 general lanes are surrounded by authentic brick masonry walls and columns, enhancing your bowling experience and recreating that special moment in history. Included in our lanes is a four-lane semi-private suite for groups.
You can also enjoy a VIP bowling experience in our Tack Room. Here, you can gather around the campfire while sipping on your favorite beverage. Our Tack Room features four additional bowling lanes, as well as viewing windows, free-play vintage arcade games, darts, billiards, and our historic bar direct from the Langer cattle ranch. With so much to do, the Tack Room is the perfect place to host a large party or special event.
Live Music
It’s not all fun and games at our Sherwood fun center (though, that’s a big part of it). We also serve as an entertainment venue by offering live music in the Tack Room. In fact, the Langer family has been tied to the music scene for decades. The founding members of the Woody Hite Big Band are part of the Langer family. We even have some of their memorabilia on display, dating all the way back to their first performance at Sherwood’s Martin Ballroom in 1938.
In fact, there’s an emphasis on the arts throughout our Sherwood fun center. We have featured artwork from long-time Sherwood resident Terry Boatman. You can also see historically significant Oregon landmarks on display. Pride in our culture and heritage is such a big part of who we are as a family. You can see that on full display as we pay homage to the place we call home throughout our Sherwood fun center.
Much More
Langer’s offers great entertainment, attractions, and food. With our soft play area for young kids and meeting rooms and event space for grownups, we truly have something for all ages. Langer’s Entertainment Center is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy the company of the ones you love most. After a fun-filled day of adventure, you can wind down in front of our toasty campfire. Take in the action around you as you relax and enjoy the outdoor-like environment.
From our family to yours, we can’t wait to welcome you to our Sherwood fun center. We’re sure that you’ll have a blast with us. Check out our Facebook page for the latest updates. And don’t forget to plan a visit soon!
After having kids, your fun weekends may not look the way they used to. With little ones in your life, your options for weekend activities can seem limited, especially if there’s a big age-gap between your children. It’s hard to find something that’s suitable for everyone, and there are lots of things for your kids to do that may have the adults sitting on the sidelines. But that doesn’t mean adults can’t enjoy themselves too.
Families with children can find activities that are fun for everyone, adults and children alike. You just have to find the right things to do. A good weekend activity for a family will make sure everyone can be involved in the fun. Oregon has some great options around when it comes to family activities, and one of the most popular has lots to do in just one place.
Entertainment centers are great, all-encompassing destinations for families with children to go on the weekends. Not only do they offer a wide variety of activities to choose from, but they also have options available for all ages. If you’re not someone who likes to keep packing up the kids to go from one place to another, an entertainment center may be the best one-stop shop for your family during the weekend.
Langer’s Entertainment Center in Sherwood is the newest, most exciting entertainment center in Oregon. Created by a family with roots in Oregon since 1874, the Langer’s envisioned this entertainment center to be the epitome of Oregon fun. One of the best features is that it’s all indoors. So you won’t have to worry about planning around the often unpredictable Oregon weather. Langer’s will be protected and open rain or shine!
Rock Climbing and Rope Courses
Kids love to run around, and an Oregon kid knows better than most that an outdoor adventure is a great way to spend their energy. But depending on the age or experience of your children, you may be looking for a more controlled environment for them to have fun in. So we created an outdoor experience indoors, just for you! We knew we couldn’t create an Oregon entertainment center without adding some awesome physical and adventurous activities for families. And what better way to do that than by adding a rock-climbing wall and some awesome ropes courses!
Our 46-foot-tall rock wall is modeled after actual routes on Smith Rock, with 21 total climbing routes to choose from. The rock wall conveniently features beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses to suit everyone’s abilities. You can bring your own climbing shoes or rent a pair from Langer’s to start your adventure.
For your next adventure, try out our rope courses. Hanging at 3-stories high with 21 different challenges, you can test your skills in a variety of ways. Go for the gold by attempting to climb the 56-foot-tall rope ladder, and then ring the Langer Farm Bell to announce your accomplishment to the rest of your family.
Both the rock wall and the rope courses are great activities for adventurous children and adults. And when the children’s energy outlasts the parents’, adults can sit back in the Tack Room, a VIP space where adults can enjoy a beverage and monitor their kids from the floor-to-ceiling viewing window.
Bowling
You don’t have to be a professional to know how to bowl. That’s why it’s the perfect activity for families to do on the weekends. Bond over snacks like nachos and hot dogs while you watch your family members take their shot at getting a strike. Bowling is an exciting and challenging game for everyone from the oldest to the youngest members of your family, and younger bowlers shouldn’t be intimidated by the long lanes. Ask for bumpers to be set up on each side of the lane when the younger bowlers take their turns, and they won’t have to fear that their ball will end up in the gutter.
Bowling during the day is fun but heading out to the lanes later in the evening can give the kids something fun to look forward to as well. Most bowling alleys have special music and lighting for nighttime bowling, and this creates an even more thrilling environment for the family.
At Langer’s, we offer 22 general and semi-private bowling lanes to choose from. There’s a ball for everyone, and with a little effort, even the most inexperienced bowler can have a great time. We also offer four private lanes in our VIP Tack Room, which makes it the perfect place to host a private party.
Arcade and Laser Tag
Are there gamers in your family? Some children enjoy spending their time concentrating on perfecting an online game. We don’t blame them. Escaping reality and entering a new world through the screen is a fun way to spend an evening. But at home, it can turn into something that only one or two family members can enjoy at once.
At Langer’s, we want all the gamers in your family to be able to play together, or at least at the same time! That’s why we have an epic arcade area in our new entertainment center. With classic and new games alike, it won’t be hard to find something that everyone can enjoy.
And when you’re ready to face off as a team, we’re ready for you with our huge new laser tag area. Enjoy over 5,000 square feet of high-tech fun on our two-level playing field, which allows up to three ten-person teams to play! You may end up wanting to invite a few other families to rival with. You can aim for each other and interactive targets while you try to get as many points for your team as possible. Create bonding experiences as you work together to defeat your opponents in this epic gaming experience.
It’s possible for families with children to find fun activities for the weekends, especially at entertainment centers. Come experience what Langer’s Entertainment Center has to offer your family!
